There are some interesting similarities between Japan and Bahrain. Both have a history goes back to more than 5000 years, called the islands of rising sun, had Goddess of Sun and Enkie, have flags of white and red colors, and both are multiple island with little natural resources and vibrant nations.
The modern history of trade between Bahrain and Japan began in 1934 when the first oil shipment headed for Yokohama, Japan.
Since then, Bahrain has enjoyed a strong relationship with Japan. Since independence, Bahrain has been an important focal point of the Regional Economy and friendly host for Japanese companies and enterprises.
In August 1971, Japan became one of the original countries which recognized the independence of the State of Bahrain. In 1988, the Japanese Government opened its Embassy in Manama, Bahrain. In 2005, the Bahrain Embassy in Japan opened, and Dr. Khalil Hassan was assigned as the first Ambassador of Bahrain to Japan.
